Welcome to Raising Hands Signs! This site is designed to teach caretakers how to teach deaf and disabled children sign language and how to learn the signs the children already know. Because of the physical disabilities of many of these children, the signs used in this curriculum are often simplified and have both a two-handed and one-handed version (for children who can only use one hand)
For all our site’s features, look at the categories column to the right of this post.

For extra learning and for reference, there is a Sign Language Dictionary, a Topical Sign Language Dictionary, and an Other Dictionaries (which provides links to Indian Sign Language and American Sign Language dictionaries) all of which are accessible in the column to the right of this explanation.
If you have ANY questions, please ask them in the comments section of the post you have a question about, or write it in the comment section of the “Questions” page!
Thanks so much for joining us in this journey:)
Wow, wow, wow. I personally want to thank you for the incredible amount of time and work you put into creating this website and the posters. It is a powerful resource for the staff and volunteers at SCH. You rock! -Theresa Hill (Charter Volunteer- 2009-2012)
Wow, thanks so much Theresa! I will pass on that thanks to my dear friend and fellow volunteer Katie who did the photography. I appreciate your kind words so much. I returned from India a month ago and am still recovering from all of the illnesses I got while I was there. It’s such a blessing to be reminded that the sacrifices I made are genuinely helping make a difference in those precious kid’s lives. Thanks so much for your encouragement. 🙂 Please feel welcome to connect with me on my main blog: raisinghands.wordpress.com 🙂
Love in Christ,
Ariel 🙂
Looking forward to living vicariously through your blogposts, as I read them. Hey can we be fb friends too! You can check out my blogsite also and re-live life in India while on my journey.
That sounds great! 🙂
